Unexplainable

I reinstalled fedora, and this time the KDE works, I even got tried the VNC and got it to work also. I'm finding that Google search is actually a little bit easier to use for help with my problems than any of the fedora site searches. I just have to be careful about how old the results are and what version it applies to.

My next efforts are going to be aimed toward setting up file sharing between windows and fedora.

As a side note, I'm still having problems with the video. Some of the games will scramble the video and make it all unusable, forcing a reboot. After doing some reading, I'm inclined to think it is a driver problem related to the on motherboard video chipset from intell.

I don't think fedora recognizes the video and is using something generic.

Still working it out

This is not as easy as everyone makes it seem. Ok, now I have a blog, how to get it to feed is another thing.

They say they want to see a blog, well here it is. I am trying to learn something new and this is it. I've never blogged before but now I am.

Ok, I've had some moderate success in installing Fedora 11 on my machine. It only took my 4 times to get it working. Its still not complete yet. I'm still learning and exploring my way around the new software.

First a note to myself. If I install again. DO NOT select everything. Somehow that did not work. Also I need to read up on RAID. I still havent figured it out. But that was apparently one of my first problems with the install. I somehow worked around it, but I don't remember how. some setting somewhere that I cant remember disabled the RAID and reconfigured the drives to act separately, then I was able to install.

I hate having memory problems but I guess I'll just have to learn to live with it. At least the machine is working even if my brain isnt.

The desktop that I am using is apparently called GNOME and I'm supposed to be able to switch over to another type listed as KDE. Well that switching isn't working for me yet either. I'm not turning it in as a bug to fix, because apparently others are able to do it, and I haven't ruled out installation errors yet. I am building a list of error messages that I see in the various logs. I'll bet that somewhere in there is a clue to my problems.
